Christmas 1980, my mom talked up this one present so much, as a 7 year old I had EPIC expectation. It was a a small box about the size of a paperback with a green ribbon and saved it for absolute last. My mom, grandpa and grandma watched with anticipation as I opened the box and discovered with some disappointment a hand-written card from my mom. It read that in just a few months I was going to get a baby sister. My mom was pregnant and I was devastated, threw a tantrum and ran to my room. I had NO idea that she had just given me one of the greatest gifts of my life. That for the rest of my life, I would have the most bright, happy, loving companion and that I would get to watch her grow into an extraordinary woman. Molly, my love for you is ineffable. I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to get to spend my whole life with you in it. Your courage, spunk, infectious joy and willingness to YES all that you love inspires me.
